Aphex Twin – Selected Ambient Works Vol 2
Supposedly inspired by sounds Richard James heard while lucid dreaming, Selected Ambient Works 2 is both dreamlike and nightmarish, at times serene, lush and pleasant to listen to, at others, creepy, menacing and unsettling.
Aphex Twin – Analogue Bubblebath 4
The five tracks on Analogue Bubblebath 4 are all untitled but have been given 'fan titles' based on the prominent sound effect featured in each one.
The Dandy Warhols – Rockmaker (2024) – Album Review
Rockmaker makes up for its patchiness by reminding you how The Dandy Warhols so easily could've been massive popstars.
Best Albums of 2023
Somehow I managed to find 50 records to love in 2023. There were some personal favourites returning with new material like, Blur, Aphex Twin, The Chemical Brothers, DJ Shadow, Steve Mason. And so many of the returning cast of 2021 dropping new material, Nation of Language, Tirzah, Vanishing Twin, Loraine James, Gazelle Twin. Not to mention fresh new sounds from the cutting edge to the next big thing, such as Bar Italia, Lee Gamble, Sofia Kourtesis.
Aphex Twin – On EP

Caustic Window – Joyrex J9 EP
Joyrex J9 is probably the weakest of the Caustic Window trio, lacking does a Cordialatron or On the Romance Tip. Not that there isn't some industrial-strength acid rave gold here.
Caustic Window – Joyrex J5 EP
Hot on the heels of the first Caustic Window EP, Joyrex J5 offers more of the same manic acid techno and blissed out rave lushness.
Charlotte Adigéry – Topical Dancer (2022) – Album Review
Topical Dancer is a record for our politically charged times, when questions of race, identity, gender and equality never seem to be far from the surface.
15/01/2022 This week I have been mostly listening to…
A few more late finds from 2021, including robust breakbeat techno from Ryan James Ford, syrupy synth pop from Men I Trust, and snaking beats winding their way through the streets of Lagos from Emeka Ogboh. And given how much I loved Mrs Jynx's collaboration with µ-Ziq, on Secret Garden last year - it seemed high time to check out more of her discography.
