GAK – GAK EP

GAK EP
29th Aug 20247th Feb 2025 ~ George's Music Blog ~ Leave a comment

The four tracks on the GAK EP are reportedly demos that Richard D James had sent to Warp Records before he was signed; which were then put out as an EP following the release of his second album on the label. Listening to these tracks, which I may have heard only once before, I can … Continue reading GAK – GAK EP

Bradley Strider – Bradley’s Beat & Bradley’s Robot EPs

Bradley Strider - Bradley's Beat
29th Aug 20247th Feb 2025 ~ George's Music Blog ~ Leave a comment

The only two releases Richard D James put out under the Bradley Strider alias, a nice little find if you're after some off-kilter but on-point rave fuel.

Aphex Twin – Ventolin EP

Aphex Twin - Ventolin
29th Aug 20247th Feb 2025 ~ George's Music Blog ~ Leave a comment

The title track is notorious as perhaps one of the most unlistenable pieces in electronic music.

Aphex Twin – Donkey Rhubarb

Donkey Rhubarb is an odd release, as idiosyncratic and unsettling as Aphex Twin always is.

Aphex Twin – Melodies from Mars

20th Aug 20247th Feb 2025 ~ George's Music Blog ~ Leave a comment

Probably the most famous 'unofficial' Aphex Twin collection, Melodies from Mars has never seen an official release, despite the mp3s being in circulation for years.

Aphex Twin – Girl/Boy EP

Despite containing mainly sketches and off-cuts, there's a huge amount of creativity on display on this EP.

AFX – Hangable Auto Bulb EP

AFX - Hangable Auto Bulb
1st Aug 20247th Feb 2025 ~ George's Music Blog ~ Leave a comment

The Hangable Auto Bulb EP finds Aphex Twin at a new juncture, where technology opened new avenues of experimentation.

AFX – Analogue Bubblebath 3

AFX - Analogue Bubblebath 3
17th Sep 202322nd Dec 2025 ~ George's Music Blog ~ Leave a comment

The first release under the AFX moniker, Analogue Bubblebath 3 has the run time of an album, which would make it James' only LP on his own Rephlex Records.

Caustic Window – Joyrex J9 EP

Caustic Window - Joyrex J9
13th Aug 20237th Feb 2025 ~ George's Music Blog ~ Leave a comment

Joyrex J9 is probably the weakest of the Caustic Window trio, lacking does a Cordialatron or On the Romance Tip. Not that there isn't some industrial-strength acid rave gold here.

Caustic Window – Joyrex J4 EP

Caustic Window - Joyrex J4
13th Aug 20237th Feb 2025 ~ George's Music Blog ~ Leave a comment

The first Joyrex EP was an anonymous looking slab of wax, attributed to 'Caustic Window'; the first Richard D James release to appear on the label he set up with Grant Wilson-Claridge, Rephlex Records.
