A rundown my top albums of 2024, in no particular order. Even more electronic music than usual this year, plus some excellent guitar/rock albums. Expect to find Four Tet, The Smile, Actress, Floating Points, Mercury Rev and many more
Somehow I managed to find 50 records to love in 2023. There were some personal favourites returning with new material like, Blur, Aphex Twin, The Chemical Brothers, DJ Shadow, Steve Mason. And so many of the returning cast of 2021 dropping new material, Nation of Language, Tirzah, Vanishing Twin, Loraine James, Gazelle Twin. Not to mention fresh new sounds from the cutting edge to the next big thing, such as Bar Italia, Lee Gamble, Sofia Kourtesis.
A run down of my favourite albums of 2022. A year when most of my music listening was as an accompaniment to work or sitting with a young baby between 5 and 7am.
It seems foolish to try and do justice to 2020 in a paragraph - a year of such huge upheaval, disprution, loss, and in many cases...extended periods of boredom and inactivity.
